This tour is strongly recommended to all first time visitors to Iceland.
It covers a large area of the country and one sees such a diversity of landscapes. The lovely farm hotels are all en-suite, offering a high standard of accommodation and exceptional food in beautiful surroundings.
The Northern areas contain some of the most recent volcanic activity, including hot smouldering lava fields, bubbling mud pools, crevasses with steam rising from them, mountains wrenched asunder due to earthquakes, incredible lava formations, and the luxurious Myvatn Nature Baths (Blue Lagoon of the North) for a relaxing dip. The Eastern coast is cut by dramatic fjords and the south is home to Europe’s largest glacier.
This holiday will appeal to many interests such as ornithology (since the island is visited by huge flocks of birds arriving from Northern Europe to nest and feed), geology and botany since Iceland is a nature lover’s paradise. The clarity of the air also makes it fantastic for photography.
This is a chance to travel Iceland in a private coach with a professional guide and driver, and explore the country’s unspoilt and stunning sights in the land of the midnight sun. Holidays are organised by Jona and guided by Fanney, a professional guide from Iceland with many years experience. This tour guarantees a very peaceful and personal holiday to Iceland.
Many members become captivated by the sheer beauty of the Icelandic landscape and return many times on a Jona Tours to visit other areas.
